A federal jury has found Marilyn Mosby, the former State's Attorney of Baltimore City, guilty of two counts of perjury.

Mosby was found guilty of perjury by a federal jury on Thursday for falsely claiming financial hardship during the pandemic to withdraw money from the city's retirement fund.

U.S. Attorney Erek L. Barron respects the jury's decision and remains committed to upholding the rule of law, ensuring national safety, protecting civil rights, and preserving public property.

Mosby may face up to five years in prison for each perjury charge and a sentencing hearing date has not been set by Judge Lydia K. Griggsby.

At first, Mosby denied the accusations that she had falsely claimed  financial hardship during the pandemic to withdraw $90,000 from her city  retirement accounts.

The charges allege that she used the funds to make down payments on two  vacation properties in Florida, according to prosecutors.

In July 2022, defense attorney Ivan Bates emerged victorious in the re-election bid, defeating Mosby.

In February, the trial experienced a delay when Mosby's complete defense team resigned.
