Pedestrian death on DuSable Lake Shore Drive prompts closure of southbound lanes at North Avenue.

According to the Chicago police, an individual on foot was struck and fatally injured on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Two men were hit by a BMW X-3 while trying to cross all lanes of the 800-block of southbound North Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive at 5:25 a.m., according to the Chicago Police Department.

According to law enforcement authorities, the individuals were not situated within a designated pedestrian crossing area.

He was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he passed away.

The second pedestrian did not sustain any injuries.

Law enforcement officials have stated that the 63-year-old male driver involved in the collision was taken to Northwestern Hospital because he was experiencing symptoms of panic.

At 6:30 a.m., Chicago police set up a roadblock on southbound lanes at Chestnut Street causing traffic to back up to Division Street.

Vehicles are now permitted to resume their movement on the Drive at Erie Street.

Drivers can choose to use inner Lake Shore Drive as an alternate route to avoid the previously mentioned incident.
