Microsoft shifted its focus from competing with Google search for AI  goals to ChatGPT. Bing Chat was rebranded after OpenAI revealed its  weekly usage by 100 million people.

Despite their billion-dollar partnership, Microsoft and OpenAI are still  competing for AI assistant customers. Copilot is positioned as the top  choice for both consumers and businesses.

Colette Stallbaumer, GM of Microsoft 365, has confirmed that Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise will now be called Copilot, aligning with the chatbot in Windows 11.

Microsoft is positioning Copilot as its free AI chatbot, while offering a premium alternative called Copilot for Microsoft 365.

The free version of Copilot will be accessible through Bing and Windows,  but will also have its own domain at copilot.microsoft.com, similar to  ChatGPT.
