Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the newest 2D platformer from Nintendo, has swiftly become a resounding triumph since its exclusive release on the Switch just a month ago.
Nintendo’s most recent financial report discloses that within a mere two weeks, the game managed to sell 4.3 million copies worldwide, earning the title of the largest and quickest-selling Super Mario game.
“This title is expected to be a popular choice among consumers during the upcoming holiday season and beyond, as Super Mario related titles have a history of consistent sales over an extended period of time”.
In a footnote, Nintendo acknowledges that the data is restricted to games released for “Wii and Nintendo DS onwards”, which is when they began collecting software sell-through data.
Nintendo attributes the “large sales volume” of Wonder to the “global excitement” generated by the Super Mario Movie, as observed.
The subsequent slide highlights the forthcoming arrival of additional titles related to the beloved Super Mario franchise on the Switch console. These include Super Mario RPG, Princess Peach: Showtime!, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, Mario Vs Donkey Kong, and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
