Satya Nadella announces Sam Altman's status after dismissal from OpenAI

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that former Open AI leaders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman will join Microsoft to lead a new AI research team. Altman, who co-founded Open AI, recently left the company.

Microsoft's CEO, Nadella, reaffirmed the company's strong commitment to  its partnership with OpenAI. He highlighted their confidence in their  product roadmap and dedication to innovation, as demonstrated at  Microsoft Ignite.  

Nadella also expressed excitement about collaborating with OpenAI's new  leadership team, led by Emmett Shear, while emphasizing their continued  support for customers and partners. 

Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, and their team will lead Microsoft's groundbreaking AI research, and we are committed to providing the resources they need for success.

Altman shared Nadella's post with the accompanying message, "The mission continues."

Nadella expressed his enthusiasm for Sam Altman's appointment as the CEO of the research group, stating that it will set a new standard for innovation and he is thrilled to have him on board.

"Good to see you continue the mission," he said, mentioning GitHub, Mojang Studios, and LinkedIn as successful ventures that have allowed founders and innovators to establish unique identities and cultures within Microsoft.

Altman, ChatGPT's OpenAI creator, was fired by Brockman on Friday via Google Meet, as per X. The next day, Brockman was told through another Google Meet call that he was removed from the board but would remain in his essential role.
